The Project
EUYOUSPORT – European Youth and Sport Together is a European project that brings youth policies into the sports sector, with the goal of improving young people’s participation in decision‑making processes within sports organisations.
The project builds on the work developed by ENGSO Youth on youth participation and aims to create concrete mechanisms that allow young people to make their voices heard in the sports sector.
Sport is a social space capable of connecting, engaging, and empowering new generations. However, young people are often excluded from decision‑making processes, underrepresented in governance bodies, and not sufficiently heard in the development of sports policies.
Objectives
EUYOUSPORT works to support the creation of youth‑participation mechanisms in sport, build a European network among youth and sports organisations, involve young European sports leaders, and increase young people’s awareness of European institutions, youth and sports policies, and EU opportunities.
The project also promotes sustainability, social inclusion, mental health, and the common values of the European Union through sport and physical activity.
Activities and Expected Results
Planned activities include mapping youth participation, an online educational course on European institutions and EU opportunities, advocacy activities, and workshops.
OPES participates as a partner, contributing to the promotion of sport as a space for active citizenship, inclusion, democratic participation, and youth engagement.
